The news is real, everything else is improvised.

Whirled News Tonight is the critically acclaimed, popular, long-running improvised news satire that is currently running at Chicago’s famed iO Theater Saturday nights at 8:00 PM. Whirled News Tonight strives to not only provide a satirical turn on current events, but to provide another human point of view of those stories.

As audience members arrive, they’re invited to cut out any articles from a variety of local and national newspapers and magazines, then tack them onto several bulletin boards onstage. When the show begins, the cast will randomly choose articles on which to base that night’s improvised show.

The show was created by Jason R. Chin and has been playing to many packed houses since September 2003.
